Headline

KLINSTON Blogs- Arrest IMF Managing Director Strauss-Kahn on charges of attempted rape in New York assessed the IMF boss is not a conspiracy though it was widely touted as a potential candidate for the French presidency.

Chief Economist Danareksa Research Institute (DRI) Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said allegations of attempted rape against the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Dominique Strauss-Kahn might be true. Because, Strauss-Kahn had previously been involved in an affair in 2008.

Therefore, Purbaya stressed, hard to say the existence of a conspiracy to bring down his name as a candidate of President of France next year. Unless there is proof. Moreover, his arrest in the U.S.. "On the other hand, the woman lied also no use because it is very big risks," he told INILAH.COM, in Jakarta on Monday (16 / 5).

For example, according to Purbaya, French President Nicolas Sarkozy has ordered a woman to trap Strauss-Kahn of attempted rape. If that happens, it will be a backfire (a boomerang), which will hit back President Sarkozy himself. "I think it is too big pertaruhannya for something that is not yet certain," he said.

On the other hand, if true sex scandal Strauss-Kahn as alleged, would add a bad image of the IMF. Conditions that will trigger the reluctance of member states to deal more with the IMF.

Indeed, according to Purbaya, must be distinguished between professional lives in the IMF's Strauss-Kahn with his everyday personal life. "It is a law of nature, people who are not able to manage their daily life well, also can not properly take care of his professional life," he said.

Therefore, Purbaya increasingly skeptical about the IMF's prescriptions related to the economy in developing countries. The scandal also could be a blow to the institution which currently require a good image. Therefore, many countries in need of IMF aid. "Although the IMF's credibility as an international monetary institution is not reduced, but, it remains to be the laughingstock of the world," he said.

Therefore, countries that had swallowed the drug prescriptions of the IMF's economic and increasingly difficult economic circumstances, will be increasingly pessimistic over the IMF. Just take care of themselves can not, let alone take care of other countries. "Therefore, the IMF prescriptions will no longer be trusted," he said. "But this is not professional judgments."

Above all, continued Purbaya, all parties could take a lesson from this scandal that the IMF is not a savior god. "The IMF authorities are ordinary people so that views can be wrong that can not be followed with alacrity," she says.

But, he added, the case will not affect the operational policies and IMF as an institution. "In organizational, the IMF has been well structured. This case, the IMF does not make a mess, "he added.
