Transformers DOTM To Destroy Earth 2 Days Earlier

Michael Bay and the Paramount folks were so happy with their recent showing of 3D footage from “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” to journalists (with Bay and James Cameron present to talk up the 3D, natch), that they’ve decided to move the release date up two days, so “DOTM” will now open June 29th on Wednesday instead of the original July 1st on Friday.

An insider told Deadline:

Early response to footage, especially the 3D footage, has been great so we want to get the word out that this film is as good or better than the first and much better than the last.

That means everyone will get the film on Wednesday except China and Japan.

New Movie - Portal Pranks

The Eternal Question: What Would You Do with a Portal Gun?

When I’m tired and simply cannot sleep, I find that’s it’s fun to stare mindlessly at random videos I happen across while digging through YouTube. Yes, it’s sad and kind of pathetic, but it does help pass the time while I’m waiting for the Sandman to pay me a visit. Since I’m a fan of the popular video game “Portal”, as well as its recently-released sequel, I found this “Portal Pranks” clip to be endlessly amusing. If you haven’t played the game, it may not seem like much, but those of us in the know will probably get a chuckle or two out of it. Then again, my mind currently wallowing in sleep-deprived mush, so it may just be my current state-of-mind. All apologies beforehand.

“Portal Pranks” was apparently crafted by Zach King and Aaron Benitez. If you’d like to learn more, swing by the official website and have a look-see.

On her life philosophy, Diaz says, “I think you get better as you age. You know what you want, and you become stronger mentally, emotionally, and physically…But also, things have happened recently that have pushed me to grow. My father died, and having gone through that really made me think about my life and how I want to live it.”

So what did best bud Drew Barrymore have to say? “She’s my sister, but we bro out and have crazy adventures. I always know that she is game," Drew told the mag. "Most people don’t know this, but she’s very edgy … That has been a big part of our friendship, knowing that she will throw down at any time as well as that sisterly, cozy, nurturing love that we have."

Jeremy Renner reportedly offered lead role in 'Bourne' spinoff, plus other showbiz quick hits

It might not be as big as the selection of Daniel Craig to step into the shiny English shoes of James Bond -- but it's pretty close.

Water For Elephants - Film

"Water for Elephants," based on a best-selling novel, was released in theaters Friday. If you read the book, you will have expectations. We always do. But I did not read it and I went in not knowing a thing about the story. I did know it features actors I admire, and that's always a hook for me.

"Water for Elephants" takes place in the 1930s. Christoph Waltz plays the sometimes nasty owner of a second-rate travelling circus. The new employee, Robert Pattinson, may not last in his job taking care of the animals since it seems he'd rather take care of the headliner and owner's wife, played by Reese Witherspoon.
Witherspoon is just luminous in her role. She channels this bygone era very well and you can feel her love and her pain as the story plays out.
Pattinson continues to impress outside the world of "Twilight." In this movie, he's a gentle wounded soul, a role Hal Holbrook plays brilliantly in the character's later years.
And Waltz just knows how to assert that inner evil.

There is plenty of drama in "Water for Elephants." And I will tell you scenes the studio has not released involving violence against the elephant play out in a very disturbing manner, even though they were manufactured with the help of high-tech special effects.
This movie is sometimes sad, sometimes makes you cringe and always makes you hope for a happy ending. I won't tell you whether or not you get it, but I will say you are likely to tense up more than once watching.
The star attraction of "Water for Elephants" is really the acting. During moments when the story didn't grab me, the performances did.
